This course is designed for those who seek to inspire, encourage, and lead the community toward bolder proclamation of the God’s Good News by leading Evangelism Ministries. Participants will explore evangelism leadership as a contextual story-sharing process from an Anglican/Episcopal framework. In addition to reflecting together on how one recognizes God’s presence, engages and interprets the stories of God’s action throughout history, and responds to God’s invitation to live in ways that demonstrate and teach the Good News, participants will engage a variety of media and techniques aimed at equipping them to develop and lead evangelism ministries within their congregation or diocese.

This course meets the requirements of the Canons of the Episcopal Church for licensing or recertification as an Evangelist and can be adapted to meet locally-defined competencies and requirements. Those who are interested in obtaining a license as an Evangelist should contact their Bishop (or the Bishop's designee) to gain approval BEFORE taking the course to ensure that licensure will be conferred upon completion. Bexley Seabury Seminary does not have authority to confer this license. Depending on your context, your Bishop may require that you demonstrate proficiency in other areas as well.

Jerusalem is Co-Executive Director for the Procter Center in Southern Ohio, an Episcopal farm, camp, and retreat center whose mission is to embody and teach creation care, spiritual development, hospitality, and belonging as beloved community.

Jerusalem is also the former Manager of Evangelism and Discipleship for The Episcopal Church under Presiding Bishop Curry, where she coordinated church-wide efforts to inspire, gather, equip, send, and celebrate Episcopalians for the ministry of evangelism and discipleship, especially through initiatives like the Way of Love, Episcopal Revivals, Evangelism 101 trainings, resource development, and many more.

She was the minister for formation and connection at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Conway, Arkansas and prior to her appointment partnered with the Presiding Bishop’s Evangelism Team as a consulting evangelist and as a member of the working group on the Way of Love. She also has serves on the Council of Advice for Episcopal Relief & Development.

Jerusalem is the creator and coordinator for Forma’s Faith-at-Home resources, and has authored multiple curricula through Forward Movement and Episcopal Relief and Development. She also has written two books: At Home in this Life: Finding Peace at the Crossroads of Unraveled Dreams and Beautiful Surprises, and A Homemade Year: The Blessings of Cooking, Crafting and Coming Together, both published by Paraclete Press. She is an in-demand speaker and contributor around the topics of evangelism, discipleship, welcoming former evangelicals, and ministry with families and children.

Course participants will gather as a community of learning October 6-November 11. There will be 6 live web conference sessions: three are optional and three are required. The meetings will be on Thursdays at 4pm ET / 3pm CT / 2pm MT / 1pm PT.
